Survey Design

Planning a survey? The First Nations Statistical Institute (FNSI) can assist your community or organization in carrying out a methodologically-sound survey that produces reliable and accurate results.
There are many considerations to building high quality surveys, and how to effectively and appropriately use survey data in analysis. FNSI’s experts can provide assistance in all stages of survey planning, design and implementation, including: general considerations in the survey design (objectives, costs), different sampling strategies (determining sample size), how to design a questionnaire, methods for collecting survey data (self-enumeration, personal interview, telephone interview), processing the data, data analysis techniques, and protecting confidentiality.
When working with First Nations organizations and governments on surveys, FNSI enters into community agreements. Within these community agreements, issues are addressed such as where and how data will be held, how confidentiality and privacy will be protected, how data will be used and disseminated, and how community protocols and cultures will be respected.
